Beauty Tips I Would Tell My Younger Self

Beauty tips, Beauty tips for younger face, Younger looking skin secrets, How can I make my face look younger and smooth

When you are young and clueless (but usually too stubborn to ask your mum or older sister for some good advice), you’ll eat anything that flies and that includes beauty and fashion tips. And all of that is fine as long as we’re doing it right.

From this point in life, when most of us are already mature, with a solid idea of who we are and what’s good for our health, looking back to all the poor choices reads almost painful. The choices we’ve been making (and that have cost us plenty afterwards) taunt, but – there’s a silver lining; we can help you not make the same mistakes and offer some good advice on your beauty regimens that will definitely do you good:

Don’t Start with Makeup Too Early

Sure, you’ll come across a few beauty blogs here and there, you’ll have friends at school come with their full makeup on or you’ll just be curious enough to steal some of your mum’s makeup while she’s at work and try to copy her style. And all of this would be fine when you are 15 or 16. Starting with makeup way too soon is not only unnecessary (your skin is young, beautiful and naturally glowing at that time) but damaging, too.

When you start treating your skin at an early age, you are rapidly aging so no wonder you’d be looking at fine lines under the eyes or on the forehead at the age of 20. Honey, don’t grow up too fast when it comes to the makeup department; a little bit of lip gloss and some mascara is fine but anything more than that – totally pointless.

Never EVER Go to Sleep With Your Makeup On

….if, however, you are set on making makeup your game, then never allow yourself to go to bed wearing it. There are not many things when it comes to beauty hygiene that are as important as removing the hard chemicals off of your face prior to going to sleep, so make removing it a routine. Also, use makeup that’s dermatologically proven healthy and safe and rely on brands like the wonderful Jane Iredale, Clinique and 100% Pure.

Leave Your Skin and Spots Alone

Naturally, like all teenagers out there, you too will get annoyed with spots and blemishes on the skin and will try to remove them by squeezing them out. Well, don’t! Otherwise, you will potentially be left with scarring, redness on the cheeks and even cause chronic irritation.

When blackheads and spots start forming – to avoid spreading bacteria and making the situation worse – do not touch them, especially not with dirty hands. The key is to exfoliate in order to get rid of dead skin cells, use a blemish fighting product and keep it as clean as possible. If you’ve got troublesome skin, pay regular visits to the dermatologist.

Be Hygienic In General

For some reason, when we’re young, we don’t really care about hygiene much; there’s more important stuff to do like go see a new band, go out with friends, go for a run, etc. Well, that’s where you are wrong! Not only will not caring about personal hygiene make you look sloppy but it will cause some serious conditions in the long run.

Wearing the same top or underwear every day, not washing yourself regularly, not changing your pad or tampon every three hours or keeping your thermal on all day after PE, etc. will all add up to clogged pores, greasy hair, and a smell that’s pleasant to no one. So, mind your hygiene like a queen – you’ll feel amazing, you’ll look good and you’ll leave health issues at bay.
